CHOOSING WHEELS FOR A DS 450
The DS 450 was Can-Am's purpose-built race quad, and it was sold in more than one flavour — the X, the MX and the XC all appear by name on the RWI race kit compatibility blocks. The fitment RWI publishes for the platform is in the spec cards above and covers the full production run.
Kit fronts are drilled 4/144 & 4/156 and rears 4/110 & 4/115, so one kit covers the DS 450 at both ends without adapters — the same kit that covers a Honda or a Yamaha. That universal drilling is deliberate: it means a machine that has been out of production for years is not stuck waiting on a make-specific part number.
Choosing between the five comes down to where the quad gets ridden. The GNCC kit is built for hard enduro terrain, with a single beadlock front and a dual beadlock rear that clamps the inner and outer bead together. MX2B is aimed at motocross-style racing with a single beadlock on all four corners, and GP2B carries the same configuration for general sport use. GP1 and MX1 run dual reinforced rolled lips up front instead of a ring, keeping the front end light, with a beadlock rear behind.
Every wheel is heat-treated 6061 T6 aluminum with a reduced air volume design that holds pressure steady as heat builds.
DS 450 FITMENT QUESTIONS
RWI lists the DS 450 at a 4/110 rear bolt pattern with 10mm x 1.25 lug studs, covering 2008 through 2015. The front hubs use a wider pattern than the rear, so front and rear wheels are not interchangeable. RWI race kits are drilled 4/144 and 4/156 up front and 4/110 and 4/115 in the rear, so a kit fits the DS 450 at both ends with no adapters.
All five RWI ATV race kits fit: GNCC, GP1, GP2B, MX1 and MX2B. The Can-Am line of every kit compatibility block reads DS450X, DS450MX, DS450XC and DS650, so the X, MX and XC variants are all covered.
All three are named on the same compatibility line of every RWI race kit, so the same kit covers each of them. RWI publishes one fitment row for the DS 450 platform rather than a separate row per variant — the values are in the spec cards on this page.
Stay within the offset RWI publishes for the machine, shown in the spec cards above. Going well outside the factory range alters steering geometry and changes how the wheel bearings are loaded. RWI race kits are already configured to that offset, so a kit needs no calculation.
